Medical Stitches

Medical stitches????
Okay we had this woman in yesterday about medical care today and we were learning about stitches. I found out quite alot of things out of such a small thing, i came home just wondering what are the needs for stiches? Obviously if you cut yourself, but in what ways could you cut yourself to need stitching? thankyou!
stitches are a great way to heal a large wound, however can leave scaring. smaller, less deep cuts could best be treated with a butterfly stitch, which isn’t really a stitch at all. it is strong medical tape that you use to close the gash, so it will stay closed and heal. similar to stitches but with out any needles and string. a stitch would be required for a larger cut that is pretty deep. also if the cut, gash, isn’t in a straight line, stitches may be required because the tape method may not work right. either way you need to close a gash to ensure it stays clean, keep out infection and heal with as little scare as possible. a good example of needing stitches, is when a child, or even adult, hits their mouth on something, such as another persons head. their tooth cuts through their lip. in this instance since it is cut through the lip, you would need stitches. – hope that helps
